The integrated fisheries business was earlier in countries like China, Germany, Malaysia but gradually this business has also gained popularity in India.

The integrated fisheries business serves as a model: This model changes the yield of one biological system to nutrients for other biological systems. Integrated farming of fish and agriculture leads to polyculture, which leads to the growth of many new products. n this model, water can be reused through biological inhibition.

Types of Integrated Fisheries:

There are two types of integrated fisheries:
1. Fisheries with Agriculture
2. Live Stock Fisheries

1. Fisheries with Agriculture

● Fish farming with paddy - This type of farming is being done in different areas of our country. In Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, Assam, paddy farming is mostly practiced as there is enough water in the paddy fields in these areas. This type of farming is paddy is grown in the middle. In this, about 1000 kg of fish can be produced in 1 hectare pond with about 90 quintal paddy crop.

● Fish farming with gardening- In this type of farming, fruits, vegetables and flowers are grown on the banks of the pond. The fruits that can be produced in this cultivation are banana, mango, coconut and vegetables like brinjal, chilli, tomato, cucumber, etc. Fruits and vegetables which require less sunlight can be grown seasonally. This farming gives 20-25% more profits than just fishery business.

2. Live Stock Fisheries

● Fish farming with poultry: This type of farming is mostly done in Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa. In this type of farming, chickens are reared with fish. It produces about 5000 kg of fish in a year and about 1250 kg of poultry and 7000 eggs.

● Fish farming with ducks: This type of farming is done in Orissa, Karnataka, Bihar, Assam, Uttar Pradesh. In this type of farming, about 300 ducks are reared in 1 hectare. Ducks also control aquatic weeds. A duck needs at least 0.3 to 0.5 square meters. It can produce about 3500-5500 kg of fish and 600 kg of duck and 18000 blind.
